bluefish.jpgBluefish by Pat Schmatz

This book is about a guy named Travis. It's his first day in Middle School and so far it's not so good. He hates school and he always tries to ditch school. He lives with his Grandpa and sincerely, he doesn't care about passing school. He says that he doesn't want to do anything and thinks it's impossible to pass his classes. Lastly, he calls himself a Bluefish-stupid, angry, and alone.
I like this book because it's mysterious with moments of humor and honesty. But what I didn't like about it was that I think sometimes I think it has too many details and should just get to the point or main idea. Yet I would recommend it to people who like books that are mysterious but kind of reveals itself at the end and is cute and makes sense too.

external image 8727394.gifWonder by RJ Palacio

Wonder is about a boy with a deformed face. His name is August, and because of his face, he's been home-schooled for years. But when going into 5th grade, he enters a school called Beecher Prep. There, he meets many friends, and a few enemies. This book is very good, but it can be sad at times. Be prepared to sob a little. I actually read this book for book club and loved it. :) I recommended it to all my friends as soon as I finished it! Also be aware that this book is told from different perspectives, so don't be surprised when the story switches to another person.

external image 09-10-Into_the_Gauntlet_cover.jpgInto The Gauntlet by Margaret Peterson Hadix
Into the Gauntlet is a thrilling end to the 39 Clues book. Written by my favorite author, this book is amazing, and the longest book in the series. In this book Amy and Dan know the secret to there branch and have to try to get all the branches together. But this task proves hard due to there branches difficulty with previous tries. The ruthless Isabel Kabra doesn't help either. Will they win all the power, or will world domination fall into the wrong hands? Find out in Into The Gauntlet by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I <3 the suspense element in this book. The part i didn't like (not to criticize) is that since i get scared easily is how it feels like anyone could die any second. I got really caught up in this book and could put it down. This book is for anyone who has read the first 9 books, and no one else because this really wouldn't make sense due to the intricate web woven by the other authors in this series.

In 1418 Nicholas Flamel, the best alchemyst of his time, died, but his tomb is found empty. Almost 500 years later, in 2009, Sophie and Josh Newman, two normal teens, are working at a coffee shop called the Coffee Cup and at Nick and Peggy Flemming’s library. When the evil Dr. John Dee comes and destroys the library and steals the book of Abraham the Mage, Sophie and Josh will never be the same.
I loved this book! It was suspenseful, full of extremely interesting details, and a page turner! It was also linked into the world of 2009. The characters use email, ipods, alarm systems, and other current technology. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys magic, fantasy, or Greek mythology books. This book had humor, a lot of action, and magic. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series! al·che·mist (āl'kə-mĭst) n. A practitioner of alchemy. - al·che·my (āl'kə-mē) n.

This book is haunting and terrible and only a few people on this planet should read it, though I have to say that this was my favorite book and I read it three times. Did that confuse you… let me explain. If you like books that will leave you with horrible images in your head forever, then this is the book for you. It is a horror, romance, and a mystery all in one. It takes place in 1942 and 2003 in Paris. Sarah a 10 year-old girl is taken to a concentration camp with her mother and father. In an attempt to save her 4 year-old brother, Michael, she locks him in their secret hiding place, a cupboard in her bedroom, she is thinking that they will be coming home tomorrow. Each chapter in this novel switches characters and stories. It begins with Sarah’s story then in the next chapter, it switches to Julia Jarmond’s story, she is a 32 year-old American reporter who moved to Paris in 1998. She has a husband and an eleven year-old daughter. She is currently living in Sarah’s old apartment. Their stories are linked in a way you would never imagine! Read Sarah’s Key to find out what happens to Michael. Read it to find out what the secret to Julia’s apartment is. Lastly, I have to tell you that before you start reading it, you need to be prepared to stay up until 1:00am every night reading it. You literally won’t be able to put it down until you finish. Enjoy :D

external image batboy-mike-lupica-cd-cover-art.jpgBatboy Mike Lupica

Batboy, by Mike Lupica, is one of newest and greatest sport mystery books. This is an interesting book about a boy Brian and how he gets his life long dream of being a batboy for his favorite team. But along the way, he gets in trouble with his favorite player, Hank Bishop. At first, Brian thinks he is a great guy, but he realizes that he a lousy attitude. One time Brian gives him the wrong bat that costs the Tigers chance to win that game and their relationship doesn’t start well. Brian plays on his own baseball team, but he is a really bad player. So when Hank helps Brian, Brian does great but now Hank is in a major slump. Now their relationship is ruined since Hank doesn’t want to talk anymore. What will happen? Will Brian win his teams championship? Will Hank finally start to hit good? Will Brian and Hank become best friends? You have to read the book to find out!

This book is really great as I would recommend it to sports fans or someone who wants to read something interesting. Mike Lupica writes many great sport books about a young kid facing a problem with his favorite sports player and how his life changes and plays out. This book’s actions can connect to real-life problems making it seem realistic as it can connect with the reader like I did. It is a really good book that keeps readers to read more!

external image lemony190.jpgThe End Lemony Snicket

The book The End, the final installment by Lemony Snicket in a series of Unfortunate Events, is a spectacular book in my opinion. It is the last book, and the Baudelaire orphans have a terrible surprise in the end of the book The End. I think that Lemony Snicket did a great job of closing out the series. In this book, the Baudelaires wash up on a castaway island. this is a very mysterious island. at this island, the Baudelaires are accompanied by the evil character Count Olaf, a deadly villain. The Baudelaires also meet Friday, a girl on this island. near the end of the book, something terrible and exciting happens, and you’ll have to read it and find out. This is the climax of the series, and in my opinion, this is a great book. There are breath taking moments, I could not put down this book, and would recommend it whether you like reading or not. I would also recommend it to someone who likes depressing or sad books. This books title fits many of the characters destiny, and you'll have to read to find out who.

Everyone (well just about everyone) has heard this title. It's a classic! I mean, it's a super-super good book, and it really tells truly how things happened in the 1930s, with the whole racial discrimination and such. I really love this book, and I think everyone should read it.
The book is about Jean-Louise "Scout" Finch, her brother Jeremey "Jem" Finch, and their dad, Atticus Finch. Atticus is a lawyer, and he has to defend a man named Tom Robinson, who is accused of taking advantage of Mayella Ewell. It is also about how Scout, Jem, and Dill (their friend) are trying to find out about Arthur "Boo" Radley (he's supposedly crazy). To find out what happens, read it!!!

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Roderick's Rules Jeff Kinney
If your are a wimpy kid then this book is perfect to tech you how to get through life and at school. If you like humor, like reading, or like diary written books then this book is perfect for you. I found this book hilarious and i really enjoyed it. It had a good plot and it had lots of action.

Greg Heffley(the main character) is a middle school boy and his brother Roderick loves picking on him. Greg has to take it because his parents think that Greg is lying and that Roderick is a perfect son. When Greg find an amazing secret about Roderick he uses it against him and then the entire school fonds out. Yet Roderick doesn't know that it was his younger brother Greg. Once Roderick found out that it was Greg Roderick forced Greg to do his Science Fair Project.

I would recommend this book for kids from age 7 t above because the book is very hilarious and even my mom read the book and she found it funny. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this book to younger kids is because it has some humor that isn't appropiate for kids of that age.

Hamlet: a novel by John Marsden Let's put this simply... THIS BOOK SUCKED! I mean, I love Shakespeare, and the play Hamlet, but, this book kinda ruined the story for me. I mean, the way it was written made it confusing, and if it was your first time reading anything Hamlet related, you wouldn't be able to understand anything. Cut by Patricia McCormick
This book is about a girl at a residential treatment facility because she cuts herself. I love this book. As soon as you read the fist page your hooked. A lot of people would be able to relate to this book because it has teenagers who go through very tough times in their lives and need help dealing with their problems. The author makes this book seem so real and the way she describes it all puts a picture in your head for the whole entire book. I never wanted to be finished with the book because its so good, and it is now my favorite book.

Epic by Conor Kostick
Science Fiction fans and roleplay fans unite! If you love either you must read this book. It was like a movie was playing in my head. This book had great imagery. Though one chapter in particular wasn't fast enough for me: Behold the Executioner. Though this book made me feel so geeky. It's exactly like World of World of Warcraft. At least the game part of the book was. But the two worlds were very distinct and there's so much strategy and, girls, there's romance! Not to much but just the right amount to get you hooked and want to read the sequel: Saga.

I didn't get it from the Media Center, but yes, it can be found there.

There's a Dead Person Following My Sister Around by Vivian Vande Velde
This book is about a kid whose sister thinks that a ghost is following her around. You would definetely enjoy this book if you are interested in spooky things, and somewhat, slaves and their freedom. The thing that I liked about this book, was that you couldn't put it down. It just grabbed your attention from the beginning, and forced you to keep reading it! What I didn't like about it was how careless the adults are about this whole situtation. Their children kept telling them that a ghost is coming after them, but the parents think they are just making it up. Yes, I would recommend it to one of my friends, because my friends are also really interested in ghost stories!

Faith and the Electric Dogs by Patrick Jennings

Ever feel like there's too many of those serious and boring books? If so, then "Faith and the Electric Dogs" is the perfect thing to read in case you want to get away from all of those darned hard-to-reads. This book is fun, creative, and it's so entertaining! It's got a little bit of Spanish, Bowwow, and French language in it, which make it so fun. It's about a girl named Faith and her "electric dog" Edison who live in San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico. Faith just absolutely hates it there because she doesn't understand Spanish and everbody teases her, so to get away from this place, her and Edison ride a tin rocket fueled by pork fat to San Francisco (Faith's hometown). This book is super adorable, and I would definitely recommend it to absolutely anybody!! :)

The Outcast of Redwall by Brian Jacques

I like this book as well as the Redwall seires from which it is from. I like this book because it is a story with action packed adventure and that all the characters are animals that you would see out in the wild. The story is mainly about a wessle who wants control of mossflower and a badger who wants his revenge on the wessle because he had been abducted by the wessle. These are only some of the resons I like this book and if you want to know the rest of them you should read the book for your self.
